Fall Haircolor Trends

You've packed away your shorts and flip flops for another year and pulled out your favourite boyfriend blazer and knee high boots. And chances are you are craving a fresh new hair colour to go with your fall wardrobe. For Fall 2010 colour trends are pointing to natural looking shades that complement the skin tone. Your natural hair colour as well as eye colour should offer clues as to which shades you choose.

Black hair
Dark, tanned or olive complexions wear black hair well like Sofia Vergara. Look for shades with intensity that offer contrast without making your skin look sallow or gaunt. Radiant, flawless skin will also make black hair outstanding. Brunettes can add definition and accent their hair with deep blue undertones.
Red Heads
If you've always coveted your friend's red tresses, this Fall is the right time to try it out. Brilliant reds like copper on Christina Hendricks continue to be popular, but more natural hues top the colour charts. Red tones bring vibrancy to your look adding the wow factor. Choose from amazing shades like auburn, bronze and mahogany. To enhance the radiance in your reds pass up the highlights. Complement with greys, greens and plums on the eyes.
Blonde Bombshells
Many of Hollywood's vixens and bombshells have been and continue to be blondes. This season go for elegant glamour with shades of honey or golden blonde or lighter tones of platinum or pearl. Whether you choose edgy or classic, blonde is always in style.
Brunettes
Brown shades are an excellent choice for many complexions and they usually look rich and glossy. This season, browns look best in all-over rich espresso shades and glossy capuccinos hues. If you are making a dramatic change, it is also a good idea to tint eyebrows to complement your new hair colour and avoid giving your complexion a harsh hue.
Ease of Styling: after a summer of play, teens and adults alike need a style that can be easily managed in minimal time. This includes the frequency needed for hair cuts and trims as well as prolonged styling.
Length: Long hair is more trendy than ever this fall, and longer locks provide many style variations for different events and personalities. Bangs are great for fall. Not every hair style needs to be changed radically to work well in a new season. Consider hair extensions if you’re interested in a longer look than you have now, or work with different fall-themed accessories to create a new style with minimal change.

Humidity is making me insane...

So, it's hot. {shocker} We live in Nashville and it's May. What did I really expect? If you're like me, you HATE blow drying and styling your hair when it's hot outside. I mean, it's terrible. I get out of the shower and then I get all sweaty again from blow drying and straightening it. Gross. But it's not like I can let it air dry and get away with it. I love the the warmer weather, but with that comes the humidity. No matter what I do, it's only a matter of time before my head looks like a lion's mane. It doesn't help that my hair is desperate for moisture after going from winter dark to summer blonde highlights.

Solution... Keratin Complex Smoothing Treatment. This thing is like a wonder drug for your hair. My blowdry time has been cut in half and I no longer need my flat iron to finish my style. I can even let it air dry! I can get ready faster than ever and my hair feels healthy again.
Here's how it works: By infusing natural keratin into hair’s cuticle it eliminates up to 95% of frizz and instantly adds amazing shine, silkiness and condition to the hair. Your hair will be more manageable, smoother and easier to style than ever before. {scout's honor} It is perfect on all types of hair – including color treated and chemically processed hair. If you don't believe me, check out this before and after...

and here's 3 days later air dried. {amazing}
It's truly life changing and lucky for you, we are now offering it at Eyecandy Salon. Just call {615.321.1363} or email to book an appointment and we'll take care of the rest.

good bye newsletter, hello blog...

So as you can see we have ditched the newsletter. I'm sure you were tired of getting yet ANOTHER email in your already full inbox, and we were getting a little tired of the structure of a monthly newsletter. We think the weekly/daily blogging will suit us much better. Here's what we've been up to since last we spoke...

Uh-may-zing photo shoot with Premier Bride during the first part of the year. The models, the dresses, the flowers: all gorgeous. We worked with a fabulous photographer, Gregory Byerline, and the product was filmed and edited by 2duce2. Here's the teaser they made that we just can't seem to stop watching...

Then we sent Deana to LA for a week to finish her training to become an educator for Sexy Hair. We also sent Cassie, Laura and Danielle to New Orleans for Aveda's "Serious Business" hosted by the Neill Corporation. All the while, Tony began his training to become an educator for L'Oreal Professionnel. What can I say? We're hitting the ground running.

We got our creative juices flowing for "Her" Nashville's Bridal Brunch just to have them squashed because of snow. (I thought we were in the south? What's with this weather?) Thankfully the event was rescheduled for February 28th. We'll be doing hair for the fashion show. A little bird told me there will be some "must-see" looks for 2010 weddings.

On March 1st we will be doing a photo shoot with the magic makers at Ace Photography of some our stylists' work. We're really excited to fill the walls of the salon with some of our own art. If you haven't had the chance to see what the people over at Ace Photography are doing, go ahead and click the link above and take a look. We'll just wait here 'til you get back...

Internationally known stylist, Mike Karg, has been invited to Eyecandy on March 14th to demonstrate his signature dry cutting system. We have a few spaces still available if you happen to be a stylist interested in coming to the class. Please call the salon for more details on the event.

Ok, so you're caught up. We've been busy little bees over at Eyecandy. Now, you know I can't give everything away that we've been doing behind the scenes. Keep your eyes peeled for more info in the coming weeks. We have some pretty exciting news to deliver in early March, so be sure to check back. We are also constantly offering new promotions for clients; stay up to date! You can find us on facebook, twitter, yelp (write a review and I bet you'll get a free blowout) and foursquare (we always treat our mayor to something special!) There are usually a few goodies hidden within the pages of our website as well.

Well, that's all for tonight. Hopefully the beautiful day we had today will carry into tomorrow. Anyone else itching for spring? It just felt so good to wear sunglasses today.

And remember, it's ok to stare at yourself in the mirror. We just make it a lot more fun for you at Eyecandy.

~cheers~
